Holy Matrimony

your engagement. We are glad to be able to prepare you as you approach the sacrament of marriage. It is our goal, as a parish, to assist you in your goal of obtaining a lifelong, loving and sacramental covenant.

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1601).

Marriage is a sacrament of service, meaning that you receive special graces to give your life to one another as Christ gave his life for his bride, the Church. This sacrament is not one which is an island unto itself. It is a sacrament which is meant to be received in harmony with the other sacraments as well, especially that of the sacraments of the Eucharist and reconciliation. It is Christ’s desire for you to receive all the graces he offers you within his Church.
